About Statia
Sint Eustatius also known affectionately to the locals as Statia or Statius was seen by Christopher Columbus in 1493 and claimed by many different nations over the next 150 years. Sint Eustatius became the first international territory to acknowledge the United States.

Sint Eustatius Museums
On Statia there are two museums: The St Eustatius Historical Foundation Museum and Lynch Plantation Museum. The St Eustatius Historical Foundation Museum is located on Emma weg in the center of Oranjestad in the 18th centry house of Simon Doncker, who was a wealthy merchant.
