Diving in Statia
Statia has one of the best diving sites in the Caribbean. The underwater volcanic fissures and canyons give Statia a diversified diving selection.
Its name came from the Dutch word kuil; meaning pit: it became the first official national park of the Netherlands Antilles in 1998.

Sint Eustatius (English: Saint Eustatius also known affectionately to the locals as Statia or Statius, is one of the islands that made up the Netherlands Antilles; it is in the northern, Leeward Islands portion of the West Indies, southeast of the Virgin Islands. In 1954 Sint Eustatius (Statia) became a part of the Netherlands Antilles along with Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba and Sint Maarten. As of October 10 2010 Statia will have a new constitutional status of special municipality within the Netherlands constitution.
